-My first question in naturally about the Tripp Eisen’s departure from Murderdolls : what happen ?
A : Basically, he had to go back to work on the new Static X record, but I know Wednesday and Joey for a long time : I knew Wednesday for probably seven years now, so I always knew what he was doing, I knew the Frankenstein Drag Queens, and Joey was putting the Rejects together, and I was going to be in the band, I was always going to be in the band, so, when Tripp couldn’t do it, they didn’t even ask me, they called me : ‘You’re joining the Murderdolls and that’s it ! It was really Wednesday and Joey’s band. Tripp played on the album. It was unfortunate things worked out in that way, but I think it worked out for the best.
-So you joigned the band : does it means you quit Dope forever ?
A : Yes !
-Are they working on a record ?
A : I think they work on new stuff.
-It’s too bad you didn’t come to France with Dope...
A : I know : we would have loved it.
-You weren’t there when the band recorded the album. But what did seduce you to join them ?
A : No, Tripp did it at the time, but Joey basically did everything, the drums, most of the bass, most of the guitars, Wednesday did some bass and some guitars, and Tripp did only some stuff. Like I said, musically this is more where I’m into, it reaches a point where emotionally, you do it in your heart, this is musically who I am, not that my old band didn’t do things like I like, they did, but I’ve seen this opportunity come along, people that I knew, people that I liked, people I’ve been with for a long time, musically there is where my roots are at.
-You’ve been with them on the road already : is it as great as you expected ?
A : Yeah ! One thing that’s been very rewarding is how enthusiastic the band are. I thought we would do a couple of shows, doing some kind of take off people are really enjoying this band, and I think it is because we’re doing something so different. If you do something different, people are cast away or embrace it, and they get the fact that it’s fun.
-Is it a single scheduled for ‘Dead in Hollywood’ with the video ?
A : There’s I guess a single for it right now, but we’re not going crazy with it. Probably in January or february we’ll do a second single : that one we’ll really go after !
-Marilyn Manson, who appears briefly in that video, was supposed to appear on the LP, but he didn’t because of the event following the Twiggy’s departure : is there nothing under way now with him ?
A : Well I think it would be great to tour with him, it’s the guy who’ve only done exciting things in the past five years : ‘Antichrist Superstar’ is such a wonderful album.
-Do you have ideas for further Murderdolls songs ?
A : The record has only been out for two months now, so we haven’t start to look that way. I have showed Wednesday some songs. Tripp didn’t do it because things were too scattered. When we do the next record . We’ll play two new songs tonight.
-I guess that, one of those days, Slipknot will go back to the studio :what will you do then ? Composing ? Resting ?
A : We will...decompose ! ! ! Joey will have to go back to Slipknot of course, and we’ll rest a bit, but we’ll do something, surely writing the next Murderdolls record
-In Murderdolls, Joey is swapping his drums for guitar and bass, Tripp his bass for guitar, Wednesday sings but also play some instruments, so do you intend yourself to give up guitar and play something else ?
-A : I would like to sing, but I can’t ! Or compose a little bit more : but there’s one thing I would never do is playing drums. Dropping a whole drum kit from the steps is the best way I can play drums ! ! !
-If Murderdolls were a movie, which movie would it be ?
A : I would say ‘Sid and Nancy’, when things start to go bad
-Your top ten in horror movies ?
A : Anything by Tim Burton : ‘Nightmare before Christmas’ particularly, and the Batman movies too, Wishmaster n°1, the exorcist, ‘Suspiria’ are amongst my favourites
-Your most important record ?
-A : Believe it or not, it’s Manic Street Preacher’s ‘The Holy Bible’
-Internet : big user ?
A : Not as much as I would like, especially on tour, we’re so busy at the moment, but when we have a break, I’ll go back to my computer. The website important for us, and we have this tour diary in it, we write things in it at least twice a week. We try to be really involved.
