Cradle of Filth - "PanDaemonAeon" (Music for Nations)
Beside the new EP "From the cradle to
enslave", the merry lads from Cradle of Filth release a nice video, featuring the video clip for the
aforementioned track (both censored and uncensored version), as well as a making of and four live tracks
recorded in London Astoria on 5/6/98: Dusk and her embrace, Beneath the howling stars, Cruelty brought
thee orchids, Malice through the looking glass. The video clip itself, directed by Alex Chandon (of "Pervirella"
erm, fame), is quite good (you can skip the censored version, it's exactly identical to the censored
one, except all the tits and gore have disappeared) and truly in the "Cradle" spirit: Hammer-style horror,
splatter galore, busty chicks and a very kitsch undertone. Congratulations to Dominic Hailstone, special
effects director in Aphex Twin's truly terrifying video, "Come to daddy", for his latex baby monster.
Just one criticism: too much time is dedicated to the making of, with sometimes repetitive scenes (already
seen twice in both versions of the video), to the detriment of live tracks. But don't let this deter
you from buying it, the many fans of Dani's gang will undoubtedly have something to sink their teeth
in...

Slipknot "Welcome to our neighborhood" (I am/Roadrunner)
Here is the first home video of Des
Moines's 9 psychotics, composed of the very "Shining" influences video for "Spit it out", live versions
of "Surfacing" and "Wait & Bleed" and band interviews. Everything is excellent and shot in a voluntarily
dirty style reminding of "Seven". We just regret this sonic and visual orgy is so short (20'), let's
hope next time it'll be longer.
